OPEN 7 DAYS! Monday through Sunday | 11:30 am to 9:00 pm
HI, AND THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING ANTONIO'S TODAY!
WHAT'S NEW WITH THE FAMILY!
Hi, and thank you for choosingAntonio’s today!
Well, once again I find myself in the throes of the dog days of summer. So, I looked up what that means!
The phrase "dog days of summer" is an idiom that refers to the hottest days of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, usually between July and early September. The phrase comes from the ancient Greeks and Romans, who used the stars to track the seasons. The star Sirius, also known as the "dog star" because it forms the nose of a dog-shaped constellation, would rise with or near the sun around the end of July, marking the beginning of the hottest days. The Romans called this period dies caniculares, which translates to "days of the dog star" and eventually became "dog days" in English. Okay, this information borders on useless, but I found it interesting and if just one other person does: I consider it a win!
As for what is new with the actual family. Katherine tripped while jogging last week and is out of work for the next week with a sprained ankle. She is making the best of things and will soon be sporting a tan… (with a white spot around her right ankle). Tommy is doing great at his valet job this summer and is now investing his earnings in stocks. Not sure how that will work out, but his grandfather sure would be proud. Last, but not least, Johnny is enjoying his last summer before college and dashing off to the beach or his girlfriend's every chance he gets. As for Lisa and I? Well, we sit at our desks and live vicariously through our kids. :)
Here with our restaurant family, everything is great. We have hit our stride with summer and are actively rotating who gets to go on vacation. Hope you get some time for that too!
Speaking of the restaurant, and I hate to even say it, but we have started to work on our Fall menu… I know… it’s a bummer to think of that on a sunny day; but if you have any new ideas, or long for a return of a menu item from the past; please let us know. Timing is everything!
Well, here we are at the bottom of the page, and I must “fare thee well.” But before I do; I would like to thank you for choosing to spend your time and money here at our local restaurant. We consciously try to support our local farms and purveyors and appreciate your supporting us. Thanks for being a part of us!
Thank you for your part in our longevity as well! Steven & Co.
